The Crombie family has been supplying the residents of Hudson with home, building and construction supplies over the span of three generations of the owners. Over the years the store has expanded from operating out of a shed-type structure to a large, airy post and beam store designed and built with local expertise. The store is affiliated with the Ace Hardware chain but has remained the traditional, small-town hardware where customers can buy nails, screws and plumbing fixtures individually or by the pound, and where the owner/manager is often present with advice about local peculiarities such as water or soil conditions or weed control.

Residents and local builders can count on being able to bring a broken part and have knowlegeable staff find a replacement for them, whether it is for their toilet or other plumbing, or for their furnace humidifier. Larger items are delivered for a nominal charge and are carried into the house and placed where the customer wants. Even obscure items are often found in the large, outdoor storage area.
